Test packs

Two mixed packs that exist to answer one question cheaply: which of the three main molecules actually suits you. A brand pack runs from about $76 and a generic pack from about $67, and either is substantially less than buying three full boxes to find out.

The combinations are built around sildenafil, tadalafil and vardenafil in the usual starting strengths. The point is not variety for its own sake — it is that the three differ in onset, duration and side-effect profile in ways that are genuinely unpredictable from the outside. Sildenafil’s flushing and visual tint affect some people and not others; tadalafil’s back and muscle ache likewise; vardenafil sits between the two for many and suits neither for a few.

A trial pack is still prescription-only and still carries every contraindication that applies to its contents, including the absolute one with nitrates. It is a way of narrowing the choice under supervision, not a way around the prescription. Once a molecule is settled on, the per-tablet cost in a large single-molecule pack is a fraction of the trial pack price — which is the whole economic case for trying first.

Running a trial so that it produces an answer

Four adequate attempts per molecule before judging it, which is what guidance across this class recommends. Adequate means correct timing for that molecule, a light meal rather than a heavy one, and genuine sexual stimulation rather than a tablet taken and waited upon. A single disappointing evening tells you nothing.

Keep a short note after each attempt: which tablet, how long before, what you had eaten, the result, and how you felt afterwards. That last column usually decides, because when efficacy is comparable the choice comes down to which set of side effects you can live with.

Spacing the molecules

Sildenafil and vardenafil clear within about a day, so consecutive attempts are fine. Tadalafil persists far longer, so leave two or three days after a tadalafil tablet before trying another — two PDE5 inhibitors overlapping add hypotension without adding effect.

After the trial, and what a negative result means

Buy the winner in a single-molecule pack, where the per-dose cost is a fraction of trial-pack economics and the full strength range allows proper titration. Repeat trial packs are the expensive outcome this product exists to prevent.

If all three were properly tested without a durable result, that is a finding. It argues against a vascular cause, and the history usually agrees: erections intact on waking and when alone, failing with a partner, improvement lasting exactly as long as the tablets. That presentation responds to clinical work rather than to a fourth prescription.

What a trial pack cannot tell you

It tests tolerability and whether the class works for you. It does not establish the right dose, because each pack contains one strength of each molecule, and dose is found afterwards by titration in a single-molecule pack. Nor does it distinguish a vascular problem from an anxiety-driven one — that distinction comes from the pattern, not from the pharmacology.

What a trial pack costs against buying separately

A trial pack is cheaper than buying the smallest pack of each molecule individually, and that is most of its appeal. It is not cheaper than buying one molecule and finding it works, which is the outcome in the majority of cases. The arithmetic therefore favours a trial pack when there is a genuine reason to compare — a previous poor response, an unpredictable schedule, uncertainty about food effects — and favours a single small pack when there is not. Neither route locks anything in, since strengths and molecules can be changed between orders.
