Buy flibanserin (Addyi): nightly dosing and an eight-week verdict

  • flibanserin
  • Film-coated tablet
  • 100mg
  • Prescription only

Women who buy flibanserin are usually looking for the female equivalent of a PDE5 inhibitor, and that is the first thing to correct: there is no such thing. Flibanserin 100 mg is taken every night at bedtime, acts on serotonin, dopamine and noradrenaline receptors in the brain rather than on blood flow anywhere, and is assessed after eight weeks. Nothing happens on the first night. Nothing is meant to.

What the eight-week verdict actually looks like

The licensed indication is acquired, generalised hypoactive sexual desire disorder in premenopausal women — desire that used to be there, is now absent in all situations, and causes distress. In the registration trials the average gain over placebo was modest: roughly half to one additional satisfying sexual event per month, with improvements in desire scores and reductions in distress.

That number is worth sitting with, because it sets the honest expectation. A minority of women respond well and clearly; the average effect is small; and the rule written into the prescribing information is that treatment stops at eight weeks if there has been no improvement. A drug taken nightly for a year on the hope that it might start working is the failure mode this page exists to prevent.

Alcohol, and why the dosing is nocturnal

Flibanserin lowers blood pressure and causes sedation, and alcohol amplifies both. The original approval carried a warning against any alcohol at all; the current guidance is narrower and more usable — avoid alcohol in the two hours before the dose, and if you have been drinking in the evening, skip that night's tablet rather than taking it late.

Bedtime dosing is not a convenience. Hypotension, fainting, dizziness and somnolence are the main adverse effects, and taking the tablet during the day is the reliable way to experience them. Women who wake and drive early should know the sedation can carry over.

Prices by pack

Indicative prices in US dollars. A 56-tablet pack is two months, which is the minimum trial length before any judgement is worth making.

What it cannot be taken with

Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors are contraindicated: clarithromycin, itraconazole, ketoconazole, ritonavir, and grapefruit juice in quantity. They raise flibanserin levels enough to make the hypotension dangerous rather than inconvenient. Moderate inhibitors need a gap or a prescriber's judgement, and fluconazole belongs in that group.

Hepatic impairment of any degree rules it out, because the liver clears it. So does a history of fainting on standing. Other sedatives, including sleep medication and trazodone, stack with it; so does any antihypertensive. It is not for postmenopausal women, where the trial data do not support it, and not for low desire that is situational — absent with one partner, present elsewhere — which is a different diagnosis with a different answer.

Before a nightly tablet, the list that explains most cases

Desire that has disappeared has a cause more often than not, and four of them are common enough to check first. An SSRI is the leading pharmacological culprit; fluoxetine, sertraline and paroxetine all flatten libido, and a dose reduction or a switch to bupropion frequently restores it without adding a second drug. Combined hormonal contraception lowers free testosterone in some women. Pain is the second great suppressor: sex that hurts stops being wanted, and after menopause or during breastfeeding the cause is usually vaginal dryness that vaginal estradiol treats directly. Depression, exhaustion and an unresolved conflict in the relationship account for most of the rest.

That last group is not a reason to do nothing. It is a reason to do the right thing: desire problems in couples are the core of clinical sexology and couple therapy, and at this studio the first consultation is free. The rest of this section is listed under women's health, including the sildenafil marketed to women, which treats blood flow and therefore treats something else entirely.

Questions people actually ask

How quickly does it work?

Not quickly. Some women notice a change at four weeks; eight weeks is the point at which the prescribing information says to stop if nothing has happened.

Can I drink at all on it?

Not in the two hours before the dose, and not heavily on any day you take it. If you have been drinking, skip the tablet that night.

Is it a hormone?

No. It acts on serotonin, dopamine and noradrenaline receptors in the brain, which is why it is taken daily and why it takes weeks — it is closer to an antidepressant in behaviour than to a hormone or a vasodilator.

Can I take it after menopause?

The licence covers premenopausal women, and the trials were done in that group. After menopause, low desire is more often driven by pain, dryness and hormonal change, and those have treatments of their own.

The label these figures come from

Dosing, the eight-week stopping rule, the alcohol advice and the CYP3A4 contraindications follow the FDA prescribing information for flibanserin. The diagnostic boundaries of hypoactive sexual desire disorder follow International Society for Sexual Medicine guidance. This page is information, not a prescription.

Where the facts about Flibanserin come from

Flibanserin: the strengths, the dosing, what the film-coated tablet form changes, the contraindications and the interaction warnings set out above are the ones in the approved labelling for flibanserin — the current FDA label in DailyMed — read against the European product information where this molecule is licensed in the EU. Where a figure here differs from the one in your own pack insert, the insert for the pack you hold is the document to follow.

Flibanserin touches desire, arousal and pain during sex, and that part of the page was read before publication by Dr. Andrea Biserni, psychologist, psychotherapist and clinical sexologist, Ordine degli Psicologi della Toscana n. 3572 sez. A (verify in the national register). The milligrams were not: he is not a prescriber, and the dosing and safety wording for flibanserin stays as the regulator wrote it.

Flibanserin was last checked against the flibanserin label on 6 October 2026. If something here no longer matches it, write to [email protected] and the page is corrected or the sentence removed — the procedure is in how we source our information. A suspected side effect from flibanserin should also go to FDA MedWatch or, in Italy, to AIFA; see medicine safety. Flibanserin is prescription-only and is not released without one.

How ordering works

Packs of Flibanserin run from $64.80 to $392.80. The figure covers the medicine, the pharmacist check and tracked delivery; customs charges raised at the destination are not. Dispatch and tracking are set out under shipping and delivery, what can and cannot come back under returns and refunds, and the contract itself in the terms of sale.

Prices quoted for Flibanserin are indicative; the amount charged is confirmed in writing before any payment is taken. As a prescription-only medicine it is never dispatched without a valid prescription from a licensed prescriber — send it through the prescription service and a pharmacist checks it against the strength and quantity before release. Nothing here replaces advice from your own doctor or pharmacist about flibanserin, and the studio does not diagnose or prescribe by e-mail.
